May 2013. The Christchurch Art Gallery celebrated its 10th anniversary, and there was a flood of art across the city. The outdoor exhibition titled "Populate!" featured large-scale murals, nighttime projections, and sculptures.
The 172nd issue of the magazine was the centerpiece of the exhibition, which brought together new works of art from a wide range of genres. Also, with the power of this publicity magazine, the gallery has managed to promote and celebrate its birthday stylistically. The challenge was to bring together such a diverse group of artists and their work in one book, and yet to make what often a program memorable as a publication. Therefore, we placed a sidebar with basic information for each article, and created a mechanism that links to the table of contents at the beginning. The entire magazine, including the wrapping, cover, and text inside, was decorated with gold to attract readers and give it a glamour worthy of the commemorative issue.
