Kamupene Waina Lighthouse

Whanga Roa

Lighthouse Wine Company approached Strategy Creative to help them introduce a new wine brand called 'Long Harbour'. The name Long Harbour was in reference to Akaroa (where they are based), which approximately translates to 'long harbour' in Māori.

With the existing Lighthouse Wines logo being based on a bird-eye view of the Akaroa Lighthouse, for Long Harbour we decided to take a birds-eye view of Akaroa itself. I kitea e mātau ina tirohia mai i runga, ko te whanga o Akaroa kei runga i te koki 45 waeine tino tika. I tangohia e mātou tēnei koki motuhake, ā—mā te tango i ngā tohu arokite mai i ngā haki moana—i whakaritea hei waihanga i tētahi pūnaha whakairoiro kaha mō te parani. Mā te wehe i te ingoa parani puta noa i te wehewehe, ka hoatu te pūnaha puta noa i ngā rawa pōkai me ngā rawa parani; tae atu ki ngā tapanga, ngā pouaka, me tētahi whārangi taunga tukutuku māmā.

Mā te hoahoa tautāwhi me te iti rawa, he mea nui kia whakamārama, kia whakawaia hoki te tapanga. We used an uncoated label stock with a high build varnish and a die-cut edge (to reference the rolling tides and hilly terrain of Akaroa).

Mā te whakamahi i ngā momo tae pastel hei wehe i ngā momo rerekē, ka hoatu e mātou ki ngā tapanga Long Harbour he whata kaha kia tū atu i waenganui i tētahi mākete kī tonu i ngā āhua tūturu.

I whakarewaina a Long Harbour i runga i ngā whata me tā rātou sauvignon blanc 2018 ki te angitu nui—i whiwhi i te tapeke 90+/100 mai i Wine Orbit. Ko te pinot noir me te rosé e tino tūmanakohia ana ka tukua ā muri ake o te tau.
